A single import is limited to 10,000 features. Projects are limited to 20,000 features total. The maximum number of vertices allowed in a single import is 250,000. KML is a file format used to display geographic data in an Earth browser such as Google Earth. KML uses a tag-based structure with nested elements and attributes and is based on the XML standard. All tags are case-sensitive and must appear exactly as they are listed in the KML Reference. The Reference indicates which tags are optional. The "Export to KML/KMZ" dialog you are showing is for exporting from MyMaps, and if you select "keep data up to date ", it will give you a KML file containing a NetworkLink to the KML output of your MyMap. If you view that KML file in another KML viewer such as Google Earth, any
edits you make in the MyMap will show up in Google Earth. I had close to 100,000 KML files that just contained names, descriptions, polygons and points of different locations, that I have combined into one large KML file. I'm now just trying to create a network link to this KML file from Google Earth that will only load this information for the places within the bounding box of the screen. The KML project was created on Google Earth web To open local KML files in Google Earth: On your computer, open Google Earth. At the top left, click New Open local KML file. Select the KML file you want to open. After you select the file you want to open, it'll automatically save to your local KML files. Tips: You can open local KML files in Google Earth even if you're not signed in.
